  EON E-book Guidelines (January 2003)

Welcome to EON and the creative juggernaut that it has become. You may have seen the e-books that are currently being developed or already released and thought of a great idea for a new project yourself. Well, these guidelines are here to help you on your way. They can’t cover every little thing that may come up in the course of an e-book project, but they’ll show you how to start. In short, if you have an idea for an e-book, and you'd like to see, then read on!

What we do to help make your e-book a reality.

1) As an EON E-book, we can help get people involved in your project, from writers, to artists, to 'ideas people', to editors.

2) We'll create a dedicated section on EON to promote your project, take a look at any of the e-book pages currently available on the site for examples.

3) We'll create a dedicated project forum on the EON Forum's to help you coordinate the development of your e-book.

4) As your project gets underway, we'll help create a 'preview' for it and make it available on EON for people to view, you can see examples of these on the website.

5) We'll handle the layout of the e-book, under your direction, we’ll create the .pdf file (complete with interactivity including bookmarks, search tools, weblinks and more if you want them), and provide drafts for review before it goes live.

6) We'll also provide a permanent home for the final e-book on the EON server. We use commercial webspace for EON, and we have plenty of both bandwidth and webspace.

7) Your final book gets the benefit of being stored on one of the Aeon Continuum's busiest fan sites - if not THE busiest fan site. This way, your e-book gets direct to fans who might not find it otherwise.

8) EON's Site Staff will promote your new e-book across multiple websites to ensure maximum publicity for it.

What Next

Right now we do not have an E-book staff member, so be patient. If you're interested in becoming one, please PM Archer through the forums. We’d love to hear from you!

Once your idea has been accepted, a forum will be opened for you to start recruiting help as you need it. There are a few rules though that we at EON will ask prospective developers to respect in order to have the book hosted. They go as follows:

For various reasons, although mostly in an attempt to avoid a copy right law suit, EON will not publish/host anything that claims to be “canon” or “continuing the line” or “official” everything that you see on EON is unofficial, if individual readers choose to take it as canon that is their prerogative but EON will not encourage it. Projects like Players Guides, Storyteller Screens, and the like are acceptable so long as no claims of the canonical nature are made. All fan-fic books hosted on EON will need to include a legal disclaimer that we will provide simply stating that the book is not challenging any copy right holder. To see an example of that disclaimer see TFR: Noetics.

Also, we ask that no White Wolf or other copy righted graphics are included in the books, example the footer graphic on the cover of all White Wolf books. Similar graphics are acceptable, but they must be original. We also ask that content does not cross over between EON books, no continuing back stories, etc., these are fan fiction, not a decisive line. Other than that, the sky is more or less the limit and we hope you have as much fun working on the books as we do!
